How to make money from a small website, even with few visits

Many ad networks only accept big sites. Here is why, what you can do instead and how to put ads on your site today, with no traffic minimum.

You run a blog, a local news site, a directory or an online tool. Visits are still few, but they are real. The question is simple: can you earn something from it now, or do you have to wait until it is big?

You can. But it helps to understand first why so many doors are closed.

Why big networks turn small sites away

Several well-known ad networks only accept sites above a certain volume. In September 2026, for example:

  • Ezoic asks new sites for 250,000 users a month;
  • Raptive asks for 25,000 visits a month, with 40 to 50% of traffic coming from the US, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand;
  • Mediavine asks for $5,000 a year in ad revenue.

It is not ill will: these networks sell volume to large advertisers and only find it worth working with sites that guarantee it. For a small site, and above all for one whose readers live outside those countries, these doors do not open.

What a small site actually needs

To start earning, a small site does not need a network to pick it. It needs four things:

  1. Getting in without waiting for an approval that may never come.
  2. A space that is never empty, even when no advertiser is interested yet.
  3. Not paying to try, because you do not know yet how much it will earn.
  4. Knowing what is real: how many views were valid and how many were filtered as fraud.

How to do it with adPluga

  1. Confirm the site is yours, with a DNS record or a file at the root of the domain, and switch from test to live.
